Job Available: Does this sound like you?

23 August 2010:

We'd like to expand the team by adding a junior developer who is a quick study, wants to work from home, and is in Wellington (or wants to be).

Katipo want to hear from people who have some experience in Ruby on Rails and PHP and want to work in a Test Driven Development environment.

There will be the opportunity to work collaboratively with clients in agile development and we see the job growing so that you eventually lead your own team of developers. Katipo works on several concurrent projects so we expect that you will be comfortable with juggling the management of multiple projects.

We'd like you to have:

  • Minimum 6 months Ruby On Rails experience (Doesn't have to be commercial).
  • Work from home experience
  • Perl Skills
  • PHP Skills
  • Writing skills
  • A good IRC manner
  • Self motivation
  • No fear of the command line interface in Unix

Katipo specialises in offering services based on Open Source Software. You will be contributing code to the Kete application and providing custom solutions for our clients. You will also be interacting with the Kete community by sharing your knowledge on the Katipo blog and the Kete.net.nz site.

As a Katipo employee, you'll mostly be working from home. However, you will receive in person training and mentoring. Team members keep in touch via IRC, email, as well as regular in person meetings.
